Birth control?

ive just swiched from taking my birth control from about 5 at night to at 9 in the morning, (i will take it at 9:00 every morning) how much more of a chance do i have from getting pregnant from changing this time?, and how long will it take for it to get in my system?
Answer:
It shouldn't be too bad, you could always use an alternative form of protection for a few weeks just to be on the safe side.
you shoulnt have a problem in getting pregnant. You wont get pregant! It will already be in your system since you were already taking it. The only time you would run into a problem would be if you went right off of it for 3- 4 days then you would run a risk of pregnancy.
No worries just keep taking it daily at that time. (9am)
You've got anywhere from 1 chance in a 1000 to 12 chances in 100 of getting pregnant on birth control, depending on where you read about failure rates. I don't think that switching the time you take it will affect your chances of getting pregnant, especially since you're going to be taking the pill 8 hours sooner than you otherwise would have. It's not like you're skipping a day or anything.

If you're worried about it, wait to switch until you start a new pack.

Birth control?

whats the best birth control. i was thinking about seasonal(sp) but i dont know.
Answer:
Personally, I have only been on the pill for a year. My GYN put me on ortho-tricyclin LO... Its been really great for me. It cleared my skin, regulated AND shortened my period, and it has really reduced my cramps. I know that taking a pill gets kind of annoying sometimes but its better than not using anything at all. I think my biggest concern was that I would gain weight but I've actually lost weight (without diets). So, I think that Ortho LO is great but then again I've never tried any other form of contraceptive (with the exception of condoms).
Hope I helped..
try EVRA, the ones that you can stick on your upper arm.
Consult your doctor.
I have been on birth control for 15 years the doctors just recently told me i need to make plans to do something else
soon. So i would tell you to figure the factors of your age, kids,
player.
NUVARING! You put it in (you cannot feel it, and neither can your partner) for 3 weeks, and take it out for 1 while you have your period! No worrying with a pill everyday at the same time...I also used to have a very heavy period that lasted a full 7 days... with the ring, it is light and lasts 2-3 days. TRY IT!
I have an IUD placed after I had my second child. There are 2 kinds that my OBGYN explained to me. One is the 5 year and the other is 10 year. It is a plastic thing shaped like a "T" that produces hormones that stops you from producing eggs. I like it because (5 year one) I don't have to take oral contraceptives everyday (which I always forget!). Also it made my menstruation very light to none. Make sure that you ask your dr. which one will work best for you and have it checked by your dr. annually. Good luck!

Birth control?

My period is very abnormal, even though I haven't had it that long. It can take me up to two or three months till I finally get it again. Do you think I should take birth control to regulate it? I am fourteen but it took me from August to January to get it again and now I get it every two months and now even longer. What do you think?
Answer:
If you haven't been having your period for very long, it's normal for it to be irregular. If you're getting it every two months now, it sounds like it's starting to even out. I would wait a bit longer and see if it settles into a monthly pattern. Don't take birth control if you don't need to, because even though the risks that go along with it are low at your age, they still exist. If you are worried, talk to your mom or your doctor.
I never had a regular period from the time I started until I finally went on birth control at 17. It's probably a good idea to give yourself five years of natural periods to see if they settle down before you override them with birth control - as you don't actually get a natural period when you are on the pill, just a withdrawal bleed.

Birth control?

I heard you can still get pregnant while on birth control (pills). What happens if you are pregnant (but you do not know) and continue to take the pills?
Answer:
While you CAN get pregnant on the pill, the chances are exceptionally low (even with imperfect use, the pill is still 95% effective).

If you skip on period, take a HPT. If you take the pill and skip 2 periods, you should make an appointment with your doctor immediately.
The most immediate concern is to make sure the fertilized ovum (if one exists) is in proper placement. Commonly, ectopic (tubal) pregnancies occur while on BCPs.
As for the fetus, most likely the problem might be low birth weight, but only very close observation of fetal development will determine what might happen.

If you think you're pregnant, make an appointment with your doctor without delay!
This one lady got pregnent even after she had her tubes tied. I was asking her husband what kind of sperm he has. I still had my period for awhile even.
First things first, you need to take a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant or not and if you are you need to stop taking the pill right away.
Yes there are ways you can get pregnant while being on the pill one of them is when you miss a day or two and then you try to double up on the pill sometimes it's to late.
All forms of birth control have a failure rate. When human use/error is involved, those failure rates increase.

What happens if you take birth control pills while you're pregnant?
If you continued taking your birth control pill because you didn't realize you were pregnant, don't be alarmed. Despite years of this accident happening, there's very little evidence that exposure to the hormones in birth control pills causes birth defects.

Still, the birth control pill is a potent estrogen. Lessons learned from women who took diethylstilbestrol 鈥?a synthetic estrogen that was later linked with cancer 鈥?to prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy suggest that such exposure should be minimized.

Once you learn that you're pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill.

Birth control?

ive never started my period.
im 16.
is taking birth control a sure factor to make you start?
Answer:
Your 16?!? You need to see your OBGYN ASAP!
No. If you've never gotten your period, you don't need birth control.
No its not, and not safe either if your body isnt ready yet.
no, that doesn't help or have anything to do with it. Why would you need birth control, if yo haven't started your period yet?
don't worry about it! when you do start you'll get it every month until you're 50+ years old. enjoy it while you can.
I have heard that it works, but there must be other issues if you haven't started at 16. Are you over or under weight, or under a lot of stress

Birth control?

just started Yasmin today, but I took it in the morning..and the more i think about it..i want to take it at night.

its fine to switch times right?
Answer:
switching the times is ok, as long as you do it in the first week. i took yasmin and foudn that it was easier to take it in the evening, especially if it made me sick. remember, it is not effective for the first week you take it.
No problem. Take the second pill tomorrow night. It does take an entire month to become effective, though. I've been on birth control for three years and it has helped a lot with cramping, PMS, and the obvious reasons! I think you'll like it!
It's OK to switch in the first week. Remember, you are NOT protected from pregancy yet.

- BUT -

When it comes to something important as your reproductive health, don't rely on answers from total strangers!

Pick up the phone and call your doctor or a Planned Parenthood. Be sure to READ the literature that comes with your birth control - or any medication. Your doctor should always discuss new medications with you in-depth, and be available to answer any follow-up questions you may have.

You only get one body. Make sure your mind does its part.

Birth control/menstrual question?

this month i decided to skip my green pills because we were going camping during the time i was supposed to be on my period. well instead of not getting my period, i discharged a dark brown thick 'goop' the entire week, and this week. A total of now two weeks of this. I know this isn't normal, and was wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be.
Answer:
You don't mention which birth control pill you're on, but phasic pills (ones where the level of hormone changes from week to week in the pills) make it more difficult to skip periods by just not taking the inactive pills. Green pills make me think you may be on Ortho-tri cyclen or ortho-tri-cyclen lo, which is a phasic pill. What you're experiencing is normal, and may actually continue until your green pills for this pack. It will end though.

In the future, if you want to skip a period, and you're on a phasic pill, what you can do is either get two packs at once, label them A and B and take them as follows:

Pack A, week 1
Pack B, week 1
Pack A week 2
Pack B, week 2
Pack A, week 3
Pack B, week 3,
Pack A, week four

throw out the green pills from pack B. When you've taken all seven green pills from pack A, begin a new pack at the beginning.

Another way to skip your period with phasic pills is to take the first pack, week 1, week 2, week 3, and then take the second pack backwards, beginning with the third week of pills, followed by the second, and then ending with the first, then taking seven days of green pills.
actually it is, I was on my period, which was so unvbelievably heavy, for a month after I got off birth control. I think that goop is an accumilation of lining (your period is when the lining if your uterus comes off every month).
wow. i have no idea. i so wish i could help.
Let that be a lesson to you. It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.

Birth control..should I be scared?

Answer:
Scared of what? It doesn't bite
no, but what about it scares you?
Nah..its wonderful. I was scared at first too, but now I couldn't imagine life without it (4 yrs later). Good luck..
scared? i don't know about scared. BUT any pills or patches or anything that you ingest is extremely bad for your body. look up the pill on mercola.com. you'll find out more than you ever wanted to know about how bad they are for you.

Birth Control...what kind is the best?

I am having to go on birth control for a medical reason and am trying to find out what kind I should take. I am only interested in pills. No patch or anything like that. What kind do you perfer and why?
Thanks!
Answer:
There are so many different pills out there, it really depends on your personal hormonal balance. If it's for a medical reason, your doctor will probably do a blood test first and look at your hormone levels and then decide which to start out on. You may have to switch a few times before you find something that works for you. I am on Yasmin because I have polycystic ovary syndrome, and that's been working pretty well to keep that under control. I have never had any real issues with it. The biggest thing to remember is whatever you end up being prescribed, take it properly!
Honestly, the best birth control is abstinence. Especially if it's for a medical reason.
mental control is best
I would stick with a low dose if you can. (A lot of low dose you have to be under a certain weight for them to work properly) I've been on several over the years and right now I'm on Yaz. I like Yaz. It hasn't made me gain weight, I've had minimal side effects, and my PMDD is gone. I've also had Alesse, which isn't too bad, I did get bad headaches when I started taking the placebos. Also experienced break-through within a year of taking it. Ortho-tricyclin lo isn't bad, I had breakthrough problems with it also.

Birth control is a trial and error thing. As you know every female is different, so you have to find a pill that's right for you. Definitely talk to your health care professional about which one may be right for you.
Im on Orthro-Trycyclene Lo its the best no problems or anything and there really tiny pills.
There is a pill called Yasmin. The BEST ever!! I use it myself. Firstly you will never have your period on a weekend. It does not retain water, therefore you won't gain any weight. Your skin and hair is more radiant and healthy and it is not horribly expensive. I really recommend this
Natural Family Planning ( no IT IS NOT CATHOLIC BIRTH CONTROL) is the BEST because there are no drug interactions, it's 100% safe, it's easy to learn, easy to use, it can be used for medical reasons (I am using it b/c I have Crohns %26 a blood clotting disorder), plus you can track your cycle to find out when your illness flares. It can be used to achieve/avoid a pregnancy. I've been using it for 10 yrs. to avoid a pregnancy b/c I am a very highr risk %26 my husband doesn't want to jeoparodize my life or that of an unborn child. We learned about it from a local hospital %26 had an NFP practioner teach us. She was an RN so she totally understood my illnesses %26 our reasons to use to it.

You have nothing to lose and so much to gain by learning it. Below are references to find a local NFP teacher near you. Good luck to you.

Birth control...is it normal?

I am 36, have 3 kids, and on birth control for the first time.
I always left it up to fate before but now I need protection, and I feel a little old to be so inexperienced in this area.
I had a period right after starting the pill (low dose),then I had another small one 10 days later. Ever since I spot every few days but no more actual period. I always thought the pill would regulate it. The spotting the doctor told me to expect. My mother says this isn't right and I will be talking to the doctor again, but I just would like to find out if this happens to others.
Answer:
The first three months are going to be a toss-up because your body is getting used to the new "regular" cycle. You may have spotting or you may have a period.

I am actually having a problem right now similar to yours, but I do have a period (that lasts only two days of really heavy stuff). I've been having to wear a panty liner the week before and during when my period is supposed to be.

If they have you on a tri-cycle pill (meaning all the pills are different colors each week), then they may put you on a cycle pill that has the same level of hormones each week until the week "off" where your period is supposed to be. That might help relieve the spotting, but your doctor will most likely tell you to wait and see what happens after the first few months.

At your age (and since you don't need to worry about wondering if you are pregnant), you should consider taking the shot that will allow you not to have a period for several months or not at all. That way you won't have to deal with it. If you like having the monthly visitor, then consider switching to a different dosage.

P.S. - some doctors are stupid and will give people who are over 125-140 lbs the LOW dosage birth control. If you are under those weights and taller than 5'4'', then you can take low dose. Otherwise, you need the higher dosage to be safe.
no it different from before and after u take it
All I'm going to say is I know 2 women who were probably 10-20 pounds overweight, since they have taken birth control they have gained 50-100 pounds. No joke.
i don't no
Yes, this is a common experience. Your body is regulating itself against the hormones you're putting into it. It may take as long as 3 months for that to stop, it did for me. You are right to be a little concerned about it, and it's good that you're going to the doctor just to get it checked out, but it happened when I started. It also gets whacky after you stop taking the pill as well.
Ok, a little "break through bleeding"/spotting is normal when starting on birth control (it did with me!). However, it is not normal for it to continue or for you to start your period while still taking the pill. I would talk to your gyn about it!
You may need a stronger dose, ask your doctor.
After many years of not being on birth control, I started taking them and the same thing happened to me..I was spotting pretty much throughout the entire month! I would recommend talking to your doc because whilst it may not be anything to be alarmed about, spotting is a common side effect of many birth control pills, it is very inconvenient to be constantly spotting. Doc'll probably tell you to switch to a higher dose pill.
if you bleed after taking a pill , maybe you should try a progesterone based birth control, like a monthly or bimonthly injection, or even IUD, you should try to use combined pills with progesterone and estrogen to regulate.
Birth control is absolutely normal, this is your body ergo: it is your decision what you want and not!
If you have problems with your current pill, than don't feel anxious do ask you Doc. over and over again to figure out the right Pill for you, there are a lot of brand with different action..so good luck to you
i had to try about 5 different pills before i found one that worked. takes about 3 months to regulate. talk to your dr about trying or changing the pill
it is a well known fact that the pill will cause break through bleeding and even pregnancy. On top of that other side effects include drug interactions, blood clots, weight gain, mood swings, and even strokes.

Have you looked into NFP? It is not the Catholic rhythm method but a safe %26 reliable means to avoid/achieve a pregnancy. Anyone can use it including those w/serious illnesses or irregular cycles.

My husband %26 I have used it successfully for 10 yrs. to avoid a pregnancy due to serious health problems I have. We learned about natural family planning via a local hospital %26 had an NFP pracititioner teach us about our fertility. It's easy to learn easy to use, it's CHEAP, %26 safe. No worries about bloodclots or serious side effects like the pill at all.

It does require committment %26 communication from both partners but isn't that what marriage is all about? You have so much to gain %26 nothing to lose. Can the same be said about the pill? below are the links to find a local hospital that teaches NFP near your town.

Birth Control...?

Here's the summary-
Weds- I fell asleep early (because I was exhausted) and didn't realize until the following morning that I didn't take my birth control wed. night.
I took it first thing Thurs. morning.
Then, last night (Thurs.) I completely forgot and fell asleep w/o taking it again.
I took it first thing this morning.

NOW- can I just resume taking it as normal..
or do I need a back up ?

I read the booklet that came with the bc, but it mentions only missing 2 pills in a row (but i didnt quite do that..because i DID take them.. just late)

I am married, but I dont feel I'm ready for a child at the moment.

I figure i probably have to use a back up, but was curious how long I'll need a back up?... one week.. or until my menses?

Thanks! :)
Answer:
I would use back up (for one week) to be safe, even though you should be OK. Better to be safe than sorry!
I would follow the directions for missing two pills in a row, just to be on the safe side.

Anyway, have you tried Nuvaring? It is a ring you insert for three weeks, take it out for one. It works just like a birth control pill - and is just as reliable. It is great for people who forget their pills, like me!
each person is different, I missed one dose and low and behold was pregnant..

If I where you I would keep taking them but sinse falling alseep is an issue take them every morning when you get up put them by your toothbrush and this way you will not have an issue. Better to be safe after your cylce has reset you know that you are safe.

Birth control... I would like all kind of feed back from different people?

I am getting on birthcontrol and I want to know what some of you ladies think about your brand, whether it be IMPLANON, Yaz, Orthoevra... or any other. I want to know what was most troubling for you, side effects and other wise.
Thanks, I hope you can help
Answer:
I hate depo. Don't get it. Bad, very bad. Class action lawsuit bad.

I'm on Kariva and LOVE it. NO side affects at all and have been on it for over a year.
The thing with the birthcontroll pills, every pill is different and every girl is different. Even if I did tell you I took tricyclen lo (which is the one I am using) and that it's great for me, doesn't really mean it will be great for you also... My body is different than yours, your doctor will try pills out with you and if they dont suit you, he/she will prescribe you an other kind... Just make sure you keep contact with your doctor. The first 2 months, you might have bleedings, almost like your period but much darker and much LESS than a regular period, after the first 2 months, your body ajusts... You also might get headaches or migranes, then, you call your doctor and ask about them.
i take trinessa(same as orhto tri cyclen or something).. i had side effects the first 3 days.. like rly rly gassy and pretty gross.. and stomach ache..it was even hard to sleep..but now.. i dnt have any side effects at all.. i dont even have to eat food with it..which most ppl say is killer if u do that. ive been taking it for 6 months.. im 18 good luck...oh yeah i had some spotting too during the first month..nothing bad though
I've been taking birth control for about 5 years and have tried four different kinds - each one produced different side effects.

Diane 35 (not available in the US - I got it in Canada) made me nauseous for literally about two months - not badly but I still felt it, but it did wonders for my skin
Ortho-Tri Cyclen - it was okay but I think I got more yeast infections than ever before in my life
Trinessa - constant spotting and (sorry this is gross) odor and did nothing for my acne (which is why I take it)
Brevicon - I've only been on it for a month

The point is, they each affect each person differently, and you may have all sorts of side effects that aren't listed on the informational packet. I personally prefer the one cycle brands rather than three (where there's a different level of hormones with each week of pills) because I feel more flexible not having to follow the pills exactly.

The most important thing to remember is that it will take your body at least 3 months, possibly longer, to get used to the hormones you're consuming every day. Just pay attention to what's going on, maybe keep a list of different changes you notice in your body. If, after a few months, you're not noticing anything good or you're still suffering from certain side effects that you're not comfortable with, tha'ts the time to talk to your doctor about switching brands.
I take ortho tri cyclen, its great i haven't had any negative side effects. i get less cramps, and shorter periods, but it'll be different for everyone

Birth control, but I have sickle cell disease??

Well, I have sickle cell DISEASE, not the trait. I wanna know are there any forms of birth control out there that's right for me. The doctor says I can't take any pills, shots, or patches. Is there any other short-term form of birth control that won't make me sick?? I think I can't take any pills, shots, or patches because of something in the hormones. Can you tell me if there is a form of birth control I can use, and why I can't take the pills, shots, or get the patch? Love Tyra!
Answer:
Get a second opinion. The idea that women with sickle cell disease cannot use birth control pills is outdated and didn't make any sense in the first place:

"In the United States, one widely-read handbook now agrees the disease does not contraindicate OC use. Many clinicians believe the evidence concerning adverse effects is too weak and the risks of pregnancy too high to deny OCs to women with sickle cell disease. "There are no controlled studies of increased complications occurring in patients with sickle cell disease who take oral contraceptives. For many women with sickle cell disease, oral contraceptives are the most acceptable and reliable method of decreasing the risk of unwanted pregnancies."

If you really can't use hormonal birth control, I would suggest a copper IUD.
Honey use the condom
hi tyra, yes there is something you can use that is a very safe alternative. it is called Natural Family Planning. It is not Catholic rhythm method but a very safe and reliable way to determine your fertility. it can be used for women who have serious illnesses or abnornmal cycles. It can be used to achieve/avoid a pregnancy.

My husband %26 I have been using it 10 yrs. successfully to avoid a pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder I have. I am a very high risk should I become pregnant due to throwing clots %26 hemmorhaging.

We learned about NFP through a local hospital. A trained NFP instructor taught us correctly how to chart our fertility.

you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. the same can't be said about the pill. see the sites listed below to locate an NFP instructor or hospital that teaches it near you. Good luck and best of health.

Birth Control that u currently use?

Answer:
ortho tri-cyclen lo
I'm allergic to latex and birth control pills gave me migraines so I opted for a tubal ligation. It works for me, but it may be a bit extreme for you.
I used to use Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, but my insurance quit paying for it, so now I use Previfem.
ortho tri-cyclen lo
There are dangers with any birth control method, except abstinence.

Birth control questionnnn?

I am 19 and want to go on the pill, but would rather not tell my parents. Am I allowed to do that or would it have to go through health insurance therefore having my parents find out? Also would I need to go to the gyno in order to get on BC?? I have never been. Thanks!!
Answer:
When I started the pill, I was in college. I just went to my local health department. They do all the testing that a regular gyno does and generally charge you a minimal fee for testing and pills. (when I was in school it was free!) You don't have to show any insurance info and your parents don't have to know. Birth control pills are prescription so you do have to see a doctor to get them.
You are totally allowed to do that! Welcome to adulthood.
ask ur gyno ur parents dont need to know
i think you should go on the pill. it hasn't failed me yet.
You are an adult, so you have the right to hypa laws!! That means your parents don't have to know. Gyno is where you should go to get bc.
If you are on your parent insurance they might find out because of any doctor bills. yes you need to go to a doctor for a female check up (pap smear and pelvic exam) before they will perscribe the pills... to make sure you are healthy... the exam is uncomfortable but not painful... you could also go to a place like planned parenthood and then your parents wont find out but you will have to pay for it and they will still do the exam and all.
If you are on their insurance they will get the visit statement. So they would find out. And yeah you have to go the an obgyn. They do a pap and then they check to make sure that everything is alright with you before they proscribe bc.
Yes you can go to your health department and say you dont have insurance and it would be like 10 dollars but they would give it to you but atleast if you are over 18 then you can do it without parents permission but there are many reaons you can tell your parents i mean your periods to get lighter and all many othere reasons to make them shoprter or regular to stop cramping the gyno is not bad youcan do that thru your hea;th department also
Email me. I have so many of them.. that i don't use.. if you want to use them.. or i can give you someone phone number that would always get them for me.. She is a nurse and she always gets stuff for me because she so cool. I never paid for birth control pills.. plus i never had insruaunce either.. but email me.. can't talk about it here.. :Lol
You are 19, so you can go to the doctor on your own insurance or to Planned Parenthood without needing their knowledge or consent. You'll most likely need a pelvic exam before they prescribe anything for you.

Birth control question? help!?

I was supposed to start my pack on Sunday, but I forgot and I just realized that I took the first pill yesterday (Monday). Should I just keep going the way I am, or am I supposed to take two?

I take Lutera, and my last week of pills are not hormonal
Answer:
take todays now...then take the next one 6 hours later...then take the next one at the regular time you usually take it...it says it in the instructions that come with the pills...
as long as you keep the same schedule each month you'll be fine...(fool with hormones and they'll fool with you...)
take the two. remember to take at the same time every day

BIRTH CONTROL question?

so i take yasmin and i took it for one month fine.but then when i finished the sugar pills, i realized i didnt have another pack to start. so it was two days before i was able to start the yasmin again. i didnt take any pills.
so for next month (this month) should i skip 2 of the pills, or should i just take the whole pack even tho i took nothing for 2 days?
Answer:
You should take the whole pack. You can take up to 2 pills at one time. You should be fine.
That is an EXCELLENT question to ask your DOCTOR. Give their office a call %26 ASK one of the nurses!
No no no no no no no. You should have ready the packet. When you miss two pills you're supposed to take two pills for two days in a row. I think at this point you should probably just take the whole thing. If you'd gone to your doctor she/he would have told you to either take two pills two days in a row, or just start a new pack and take it right. HOWEVER, because of this, you should use other contraception methods for this month, ok? Be careful! You have to take it right, if you don't, you increase your pregnancy risk!
u shouldn have skipped the pills at all.. just in case that, that happens again, have an extra yasmin box at home.. anyway.. u should never take less pills.. i knw that coz my mom is a gynecologist. now i dont knw what u should do.. i think the best thing u can do is w8 till this circle ends, use condoms, and start a new yasmin next month the proper day..
You should have called your doctor asap or talk to the pharmacist!

OK next time... Order your refill during your third week, so its there at the pharmacy for you to get. I've done that for the past year and a half and have not had to worry about missing any pills.

Even if its just regulating it, you need to not miss any pills or your cycle will still be messed up.

Birth Control Question?

Can the horemones in birth control cause mood swings?
Answer:
absolutely.
BC often affects each person differently.
It depends on the dosage of hormones within it.
If you find you are having some serious mood swings talk to your doc about going on a lower dose.
Usually not in severe cases.

Key word being 'severe'.

could be your age though. If your still young, it could just be your body.

Those kids and their raging hormones!!
possibly

There are many different kinds of birth control. Talk to your doctor and see if there is a different one that will work better for you.
Just depending on what kind you take, but yes they can cause them.
not normally, if you normally aren't pms'y then it probably is your body getting used to it, ask your doctor about low hormone pills.
If you're not on the pill, then the only nightmare i have heard about the shot is weight gain
yes and some birth controls are worse than others! the one that worked the best for me was Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. the ones that allow you to skip periods are usually worse then the regular ones.
Dear god yes they can. As a boyfriend to a girl that uses birth control, I can tell you that ever since she started taking it, her moods have been very volatile. Right now she switched to a birth control that uses the least amount of estrogen in order to see if this one works better.
i had a girlfriend on depo who would just start crying randomly and would have no idea why.

really, it depends on the birth control and the girl. if it becomes an issue for you, i know they make the pill in a 'low hormone' flavor..
The first two months that I was on birth control, I had really bad mood swings and food cravings. I was horrible.

After a while, though, they went away. If you feel like they are extreme, try switching to a birth control with lower hormones. :-)
It's truth but good is Gert
it depends on what birth control your on (or want to be on)...but i would ask your doctor or look up the name in google.butim on depo provera (the shot) and i dont have any side effects and i think its better then the pill because you dont have to take it everyday you only go back every 3 months...if you have a problem with shots then you should talk to your doctor about the pill or another form of birth control...but i know the shot doesnt...not sure about any other Birth control.
yes

Birth control question?

Hi girls ,I'm trying to decide if I should go on the pill , and I was wondering how many days does it take for the pills to be in your system and start working.thanks for your help :-)
Answer:
That depends on which pill you take, and when you start it. Most pills say that they become effective for birth control within one week, while most doctors recommend waiting a full cycle (pack of pills) before you stop using your back up birth control method.

In terms of having the hormones regulating your cycle, it can take several months before the pills give you a consistent, predictable period.
Depends on what you're taking it for...

If you're taking it to not get pregnant, it works pretty much within the first few days.

If you're taking it to get rid of acne or something like that, it will take 2-3 months.
My doctor told me one to two weeks for my birth control pills.

So plan on wearing a condom for the first week or two.

You should ask your doctor when they prescribe the pill to you.

Birth control question?

I usually take my birth control pill at eight oclock every morning and i forgot to take it today and its now almost one oclock. I know its not good to take it after thirty minutes of when your suppose to take it. Do i just skip the one today and take two tomorrow or do i take the one today that i missed and continue on my normal schedule? How does it work?
Answer:
if you forget to take your pill on time, you take it as soon as you remember.

There are special 'rules' depending on 'how' you miss. If you still have the booklet that came with your pills, they'll instruct you on what to do.

EDIT, here's what my booklet tells me. It's for Loestrin24Fe but I assume it's the same with all pills.

if you miss 1 pill (active pill, not the period ones)
1) take it as soon as you remember. Then take the next pill at your regular time, even if it means taking 2 pills on the same day.
2) in this case, you will not need to use a back up birth control method.

if you miss 2 pills in a row in week 1 or week 2 of your pill pack
1) take 2 pills on the day you remember and then 2 pills the next day
2)then take 1 pill a day until you finish the pack
3) you could get pregnant during the next 7 days you restart your pills, use a back up birth control method

if you miss 2 pills in a row in week3 or week4 of your pill pack
1)keep taking 1 pill every day until sunday. On sunday, throw out the rest of the pack and start a new pack of pills the same day
2)you may not have your period this month, but if you miss 2 in a row consult a doctor to rule out pregnant
3)again, you could get pregnant during the 7 days you restart your pills, take another bc method.

if you miss 3 or more pills in a row at any time
same rules as the last one
You should take it now and take your next pill at the normal time.

If you still have the informational insert that your pill pack came with, you should read it. Many of them you can find online.
jsut take it.. i never take it at the right times. lol

im fine
take it now! and continue tomorrow. don't you ever take 2 pills in the same day. better skip one,but don't take it after 12 hours.
hurry up!
30 minute rule is rubbish. There is an increased risk of pregnancy after about twelve hours. You should take the forgotton pill ASAP and continue tomorrow as normal. You should use condoms for the next 7 days but this is only generally recommended if the missed pill is %26gt;12 hrs. I read above that someone said that you should not take two pills in one day - this is rubbish also.
take it now, then tomorrow, that it the time you normally do.

Birth Control Question.?

Ok, so for the last year i was on birth control pills. I recently stopped(bout a month ago)taken them. My question is how soon does your body go back to normal and how soon can u become pregnant? Thanks!
Answer:
It depends on your body and the pill you were on. The shot has about 3 months of hormone in it, an IUD 5-10 years, the ring 3 weeks, the pill a couple days. For the pill, coming off it, it can take someone as little as a few days to a few months and for some even over a year to have their period come back, or go back to being normal. The body takes 6 months to a year to regulate off of hormones.

I would say that it's not a matter of how soon you can become pregnant than how soon you feel your body is ready. If you are getting your period naturally every month, I'd say wait 6 months to make sure the hormones are pretty much out of your system.
about a month or less!
depends on your body really
if you are trying to get pregnant sweetie!
GOODLUCK!! =]]
you're able to get pregnant after your first cycle after stopping birth control, although OB's will tell you to wait a couple of cycles, just so you can verify conception correctly.
i don't think there is a correct answer for this. It really depends on your body. I know someone who got pregnant within a month of going off the pill and i had another friend who took more then year...

I wish you luck

Birth Control Question.?

I feel silly asking this kind of question, since I've been on birth control for over 11 years now... But my doctor switched me to Levora about 10 months ago, (I had been on Ortho Cycline.. Not Tri Cycline, just Cycline.). I've never had any side effects, which supposedly I should have noticed any around the first 3 months or so... For the past few days I've noticed breast swelling and intense soreness/tenderness, some stomach cramping/nausea, fatigue, apetite changes and a little firming of the lower abdomin area... Most of these are side effects of Levora, and most b/c pills in general, but they are all also signs of pregnancy. Obviously I plan on taking a pregnancy test and/or seeing my doctor, but I just had a normal, but short period on May 25-May 28. If I am in fact pregnant, I'm only 2 weeks along, not long enough for an accurate test or to notice a missed period or to see my doctor. Would I be noticing so many symptoms so soon? Any advice would be great.
Answer:
somehow my wife just knew it the next day... no joke. you will know soon enough with the test, good luck in which ever way you want it to turn out
i think its def. signs that you have changed your birth control, but like you said you have been taking the pills etc fo 11 years and so most women would not have gotten pregnant this early on even after switching pills. to me it sounds like you are having too many side effects with the new pill and should just ask your doctor why he switched you. i get switched lately it seems every year because my cholesterol is rising and my weight has been rising, but you on the other hand did not seem to get a reason why you were switched. im on the east coast but have never heard of this levora. im on the yaz and it also has shortened my period, which is great because it is consistent, but otherwise there are no other side effects. i would again, talk to your doctor and tell him or her youre not sure you like this Levora and ask more about how long its been around
You can be pregnant even if you're on birth control and you can have a "period" when you are first pregnant (usually different shorter/lighter than your 'normal' period).
And, yes, I had my symptoms about when or just before I should have gotten my period.
Don't take the pill, use alternative birth control methods, and pick up a couple pregnancy tests. Check. Then check a week later.
Then, talk to your doctor (either way, pregnant or not).
And our body's hormones fluctuate all the time. You may be just now experiencing those 'common' symptoms of your birth control.
hum, i think i can help. i changed my birth control from yasmin to loestrin 24 and i got a lot of the symptoms you have described. for 2 months straight i got my period 2 times a month, and then last month i had a very light period, and then this month it's heavy. my lower abdomen is firm and i experience fatigue, very sensitive breasts for most of the month and cramps. i think you are just experiencing symptoms from the birthcontrol, but if you are very concerned i'd advise you to go see your doc. hope this helped!

Birth Control Question!?!?

can you gain weight while on the pill ?? does anyone know any websites on this
Answer:
Some women do, but I have been on it for almost 3 years and I am as scrawny as ever, although it did make my boobs go up 2 cup sizes. This is because the pill contains the same hormone your body releases during puberty that makes your breasts grow.
Some women retain fluid while on the pill, and this makes them appear bigger. Others eat more on the pill or they may just gain weight even if they dont have an increased appetite.
Or you may not get any of this! Women all react differently to the pill...some also have problems with a certain doseage or brand, but are fine with others. So if you have a problem with the pill, try a different dose or brand.

Yes you can.

You should look up side affects for your brand of pill and other reviews.
Weight gain is a common side effect of the birth control pill. If you are taking the pill and have gained weight, you could consult your docter about switching pills or changing habits.
yes u can, i glained about 7 pounds. when your on the pill it is also very hard to lose weight. but its worth it, i would rather have a few extra punds than have a few kids. good luck, it doesnt happen to everyone
Yes, you can gain a little weight while your on the pill. it's mostly water weight, though. talk to your doctor and see how much you might possibly gain. I only gained about 3 pounds, so it really depends on your body type.
Yeah you can gain weight when you are on the pill check out with web page: http://www.estronaut.com/a/pill_weight_g...

BIrth control question HELP!!!?

I have been off the birh control shot since like may 23,2007 but i have been on my period for almost two months straight, i took advil for like 2 weeks but i saw no cahnge. What can i do for it to be back regular and will it ever go back to normal. ( if so how long will it take)
Answer:
Talk to your doctor! They could give you something to hopefully stop the bleeding. Or it could be something serious!

I'm glad to hear you are off of the shot. I had it for four years and am so glad I'm off of it.
you need to go to the doctor
It can take for up to a year for your period to become normal after being on the bc shot.
It will get back to normal it depends how long you were on the shot because you never had a period on the shot. And you willl just have to wait it out and it will get back to normal it may be a while but that all depends on how long you were on the shot.
you should really talk to your doctor.. thats a long time to be on your period, get that checked out. use the pill
It is normal for your period to be irregular after you stop getting Depo. Your body needs to get used to the changes in hormones. Have you considered using the pill or other types of birth control? If you are having continuous heavy bleeding then I would reccomend you see a doctor.
You really need to get checked out. Bleeding for that long will cause anemia, and you need to get treated for it. You may have to take birth control pills for a bit to get your period more regulated. This is just not normal and very unhealthy for you.
Hope you get fixed soon!
I tried the birth control shot a couple of years ago and it did the same thing to me. The doctor warned me that a small percentage of women with have the side effect of being on their period for the whole three months that the shot lasts. Unfortunately, I guess we're in that percentage. There was really nothing I could do but wait until all of the hormones were out of my system (3 whole months!). After the first shot I never tried it again, but the doctor said that there's a chance that your periods could go back to normal after a few more months. So I guess it's up to you if you give it another chance or switch to something else. After that I tried the ortho evra patch and that works great for me.

Birth control problem.?

This is my second month on birth control for health reasons. Even thou it's for health reason I still take it every day at the same day. My husband has a vasectomy and been cleared from the doctor that he shotting blanks. I am a little worried because my period is two days late. I took a pregnancie test today and came out negative. I have cramps but no period what could it be. Please no rude answer just honest please.
Answer:
Your body is still getting used to the hormones in the pill. Wait a few more days and if it still has not come, call your doctor to see if she wants to see you, or if she will suggest something. This is a very common thing during the first few months of using the pill.
I'm not sure. Perhaps you should see your Gyn and find out.
i would just wait a few more days. I was worried about that a few days ago too. i had cramps but no period and i started to worry but give it another week
Just adjusting to the cycle - Call your Dr's office. Your stress is only going to add to the delay.

Birth Control plus Alcohol and it's effects..?

i've recently gone on the pill, and before going on it, i was able to hold my alcohol etremely well. now that i'm taking the pill and drinking, ive been extremely sick after 2 drinks with not too much alcohol in them. my doc never told me that i'd get this bad, or for that matter she didnt mention drinking with the pill at all. i thought it was maybe just a fluke but it has happened more than once. can i prevent this?
Answer:
One way to prevetn is ask the doctor about another form of birthcontrol. I use the NuVa ring and I haven't noticed a change in how I hold my alcohol!
sounds dangerous
stop drinking while pill if u don't u very very very sick please don't drink
that麓s the first time i hear of such an effect. i would ask the doc to change the pill-there ismore than one product on the market-each with it麓s own side effects, active substance and so on.

Birth Control Pills?

Recently my Doctor suggested that I take another medicine that i take in the morning instead of before bed. So instead of taking one pill in the morning and one at night id rather take them both together. The question is... does this make it ineffective for any amount of time because I know your supposed to take it at aprox the same time everyday.
Answer:
Depends. If you're changing your pill-taking time by 12 hours or more, you should back up for 7 days to make certain you have full pregnancy protection. If the time change is less dramatic, there should be no lapse in effectiveness.
well it depends on wat medication u r talkin bout
No it doesn't

Birth Control Pills?

I've been on birth control (low dose: Yasmin 28) for 6 months. I went on the pill because I had really heavy, painful periods. Well, 6 months later, and my periods are slightly less painful, but still heavy, which is a major inconvenience. I hate getting my period! Is there anything else I can do about this? Also, could having a very heavy period, even on birth control, be a sign of an underlying problem?
Answer:
the same thing happened to me and someone told me to exercise and your body will need more blood thus lessening your period flow. which worked for me plus more exercise is always good :)

Birth Control Pills?

I have a problem with remebering taking my pills, this is the second time again that i forgot, will it affect me? i too it like 25 mins late -.- oh man this is a bad thing for me its fine rite?
Answer:
The pill is meant to be taken at the same time every day, so that it will be effective. You may be alright. But you can have your partner use other protection for the rest of the month, if you are really concerned.

One suggestion that may help. If you have a cell phone with an alarm on it that you can set to go off daily at the same time. It should keep you from forgetting.

I hope this helps you.
yes... it will effect you. get the depoprovera shot. its the same as the pill but you go every three months to get it. thats it!! wa-la!
You should maybe consider that new pill they have out. I'm not sure of the name but ask your doctor, It's chewable so you can take it wherever you are. Or just start leavin a note in the bathroom when you go in first thing in the morning and it will be there. I dont think taking it 25 minutes late will hurt. But ask your doc if your not sure!!
Well, my mother is an OBGYN she tells all of her patients to take the pill at the same time daily/ within an hour of the same time everyday is considered on time apparently. If you try and take it at 8 daily taking it at 7 or 9 is still okay, but later than that is considered missing. I set the alarm on my cell phone to go off at the same time daily to remind me. I usually pick a time when I know I will be home mostly, like after dinner. I still try and take it w/in 30 minutes of the same time daily so actually you are doing okay.
25 minutes late is fine. Even 4 hours is fine with most pills. With some pills (yasmin for sure, I was on that before) you can take it the next day and it's fine. You should check the insert in your pack to be sure how long it can be for your specific brand of pills. Try taking your pills at night before bed. Put them right by your "getting ready for bed" stuff like your alarm clock or face wash. That way you'll never forget.
f the pills get ur tubes tied
